The Bauls of Bengal are traveling minstrels whose songs of joy, love and longing for unions with the Divine have universal appeal. It is their belief that love for humanity is the path leading to love of God and that the best worship takes place deep within one's heart. This universal truth knows no boundaries and therefore sometimes offends orthodox prejudice. their ecstatic songs of worship and their unconventional behavior have earned the reputation of being "mad". For the last 600 years Bauls have sung as they wander, free as the wind. Their simple language, passionate rhythm and sensuous dance steps directly speak to the heart, educing the illiterate and sophisticated alike into enthusiastic participation.

Sri Purna Chandra Das Baul, known as the "King of Bauls", is the 8th generation Baul master of one of the most highly respected baul families of Bengal. he was trained by his late father Sri Nabani Das Khaepa Baul and other Vaishnavas, Tantric and Baul gurus, in both the musical and yogic practiced of the Baul tradition. He is joined by his son Dibyendu in this benefit concert for Kali Mandir in Laguna Beach, CA
