about

The source of this Sanskrit hymn is hidden in ancient history. Some attribute it to Adi Shankaracharya, while others believe it was written by King Ravana, a great worshiper of the Divine Mother. This hymn in praise of the Goddess Durga contains the spiritual essence and power of the Devi Mahatmyam, the central text of the Hindu Goddess tradition. It is recited regularly at Kali Mandir.
